The impacts of COVID-19 are likely to cause considerable short-term disruption to Australia’s education sector. Education however has always remained resilient during economic downturns, with historical evidence even suggesting an increased take up in learning during these periods of high unemployment. This Viewpoint provides an understanding of the medium to longer-term implications of the crisis on the education sector, with particular focus on enrolment performance during and after previous economic shocks and the potential impacts of the crisis on Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA).
