Mr. Sittema is Vice Chairman of CBRE’s Debt and Structured Finance Group and leads the multifamily finance platform in the Carolinas. Since joining CBRE in 2010, Mr. Sittema has focused his efforts on securing debt and equity for his REIT, Pension Fund, high-net-worth, and developer clients structuring in excess of $6 Billion of transactions. By leveraging deep relationships with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, along with extensive life insurance company, bank, bridge, and joint venture equity, Nate and his team are able to structure tailored solutions for his multifamily clients.
During his career Mr. Sittema has gained a unique perspective by serving on the institutional side of the real estate industry fostering a comprehensive understanding of debt and equity, as well as property operations for all the major asset classes, with a particular focus within multifamily. Mr. Sittema began his career as a retail leasing associate with Crosland, LLC. In 2008 Mr. Sittema accepted a position at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the Commercial Real Estate Bank where he primarily focused on construction loan origination and portfolio management, gaining extensive experience with successful restructures as well as originations with some of the most well-known developers in the Carolinas.
Mr. Sittema is a graduate of Clemson University, with a degree in Finance and an emphasis in Real Estate.

The Carolinas Multifamily Debt & Structured Finance Team represents 45+ years of industry specific experience in mortgage financing across all the major asset types. Our team, consisting of Nate Sittema, Kristen Reilley, Elliott Voreis, Ben Hardee and Rachael Snyder, has led the financing for over 375 separate transactions since 2010, representing roughly $9 Billion of financings.
As multifamily finance specialists, the breadth and depth of our lender relationships are a tremendous advantage to our clients. Since 2017, we have originated over $3 billion of financings with the Agencies. Furthermore, CBRE is the #1 GSE overall lender and has been the #1 originator for Freddie Mac since 2009. Additionally, over the last 5 years our team has originated and closed multifamily loans with more than 30 different life company, bank, and bridge lenders.
With a primary focus in our home market of the Carolinas, we led over $4.4 Billion of financings in North and South Carolina since 2013. Given the transaction volume with institutional, high-net-worth, and regional client relationships, we have expertise in an array of “out of the box” solutions including: value-add, Sharia Compliant Equity, 1031 Reverse Exchange, Green financing, Tenant-In-Common (“TIC”), Portfolio financings, credit facilities, entity purchases, JV equity, and recapitalizations. Additionally, we have structured transactions on properties with unique characteristics such as Historic Tax Credits, Mixed use, and environmental considerations.
