Ghirardelli Square
Ghirardelli Square, a San Francisco landmark and major tourist destination, is considered the first successful adaptive reuse project in the country. The 100,394 sq. ft. specialty retail and dining complex was originally a chocolate factory established by Domenico “Domingo” Ghirardelli. Today, the area delights 20,000 visitors a day with its lively retail mix and continues to serve as a model for restoration complexes throughout the country.
