Professional Experience

Sara Burg is a Senior Project Manager with CBRE in the Advisory and Transaction Services group. With a background in real estate and development, design and architecture, Sara served four years as a Naval Officer in the Civil Engineer Corps in an operational role, as well as in managing base construction prior to joining CBRE. Her real estate experience includes working in the real estate department of a national retailer, working as a broker in both the residential and commercial capacity, and working for a developer on large scale city planning.

At CBRE, Sara has successfully managed projects representing both landlords and tenants. She has worked with a variety of client types – law, technology, engineering, real estate, and coworking, and has extensive experience with Workplace 360 concepts.

In the Navy, Sara served at an amphibious construction battalion and was responsible for the administration, operation, and training of 90 troops in the battalion's vertical construction company, as well as management of $15.6 million in camp support equipment. As a construction manager for Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), she supported the base and all tenant commands with the full range of facilities sustainment and transportation, and managed the post award administration of projects valued at $9 million. This wide-ranging experience included planning for a multinational humanitarian deployment, managing three base-wide infrastructure projects, and running the emergency response effort in the wake of Hurricane Isaac to keep over 40 facilities operational via temporary power.

  • Assisted in planning all construction projects for Pacific Partnership 2014, a multinational humanitarian deployment to Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines, involving the restoration of a medical clinic and an orphanage, renovation of eight classrooms and full construction of two classroom buildings and a medical clinic
  • Planned and managed all camp support construction, equipment and personnel logistics for Pacific Horizon 2015, a joint exercise involving multiple USMC and Navy commands. Utilizing a crew of 80 personnel, the effort involved construction of a 1,200-person camp, including berthing, showers, laundry, galley and combat operation centers, as well as related maintenance and retrograde
  • Led 53 civilians and 11 military in the execution of $5.7 million in support of $818 million in naval base infrastructure
  • Managed the installation of 200 advanced utility meters by streamlining and deconflicting hundreds of outages, ensured use of proper lockout / tagout procedures and completed utility locates
  • Managed all aspects of three naval base-wide infrastructure projects that replaced 19 transformers, four main electrical feeders and natural gas lines serving 80% of base tenants
  • In the wake of Hurricane Isaac, provided and maintained emergency power to over 40 facilities via temporary generators, kept multiple lift stations operational and cleared roadways of debris during an eight day loss of shore power​
