Robert Stillman is a Vice Chairman of CBRE and has been with the company for more than 21 years. Robert is a member of both CBRE’s New York City Strategic Leadership Committee as well as the Consulting Group’s Operating Committee.
With a strong financial background and significant experience representing both tenants and landlords, Robert has been a leader in developing and implementing real estate strategies for major corporations, law firms and some of NYC’s largest landlords. Robert has a keen understanding of complex lease and financial issues having structured numerous transactions on behalf of his customers. He has worked with a wide range of tenants including financial service firms such as Bank of New York Mellon, Brown Brothers Harriman, ING and Credit Suisse; law firms including Clifford Chance and Ballard Spahr and major corporations such as Prudential, Verizon, Comcast, NBCUniversal, A&E Television and Time Warner Cable. Robert also has represented both Blackstone and Related in the strategic lease-up of large scale NYC office developments.
Over the course of his career at CBRE, Robert has negotiated more than 20 million square feet of lease and sale transactions on behalf of his customers and most recently has completed the following transactions: ING’s 132,000-sq.-ft. lease at 1133 Avenue of the Americas, Prudential Insurance Company’s leases of 135,000 sq. ft. in Newark, 25,000 sq. ft. at 1540 Broadway and 250,000 sq. ft. in Hartford, CT; A&E Television Networks’ 300,000-sq.-ft. headquarters expansion and renewal at 227 and 235 East 45th Street, NBC Universal’s 95,000-sq.-ft. lease at 1221 Avenue of the Americas, Ballard Spahr 20,000-sq.-ft. lease at 919 Third Avenue, Brown Brothers Harriman’s lease for 115,000 sq. ft. at 5 Harborside Plaza and Time Warner Cable’s 80,000-sq.-ft. extension at Chelsea Market.
Some of Robert’s most notable transactions include Verizon’s 1.3 million-sq.-ft. acquisition of its headquarters in Basking Ridge, NJ coupled with a 1 million-sq.-ft. sale of 1095 Avenue of the Americas, 700,000-sq.-ft. sale of 375 Pearl Street, 700,000-sq.-ft. sale of 185 Franklin Street, Boston and its 215,000-sq.-ft. lease at 185 Franklin Street, Boston. He also represented Clifford Chance in its 380,000-sq.-ft. lease at 31 West 52 Street and Bank of New York’s 320,000-sq.-ft. at Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn.
Robert’s recent strategic landlord representation includes the lease-up of Related’s Hudson Yards 6 million-sq.-ft. office development where he completed transactions with L’Oreal, SAP, Time Warner and BCG, among others, totaling more than 2 million sq. ft. He also represented Blackstone in the 1.1 million-sq.-ft. lease-up of 3 Bryant Park.
Prior to joining CBRE, Robert received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business in finance. Robert also worked at Republic National Bank of New York, Trammell Crow Company and Prudential Real Estate Investors.
