Professional Experience

As a fourth generation Washingtonian, Lee’s roots in the community are deep and well forged. After graduating from the University of Maryland with Honors, Lee’s entrepreneurial drive led him to several unique careers including the opening and operating of a family style restaurant and a specialty furniture store. Intrigued by the real estate challenges associated with his retail businesses, Lee eventually was led into a career in commercial real estate with a strong focus on helping retailers and entrepreneurs with their own retail challenges. Today Lee spends most of his time focused on DC, Baltimore, and the suburban communities of Maryland and Northern Virginia. Lee’s time is now split equally between helping retailers with their real estate strategies including roll outs and area analysis, as well as assisting landlords with their needs in securing the best possible tenants for their properties.

  • Aksoylu Properties – Developed leasing program for the company’s first three retail projects.
  • Washington Property Group – Developed a retail program to not only enhance their existing buildings, but to strategically plan for ground floor retail in all future projects.
  • Powell Family Trust – Created over $12M in value without any economic contribution from the family in the re-tenanting and repositioning of 1626 14th St NW, Washington, DC


MOMs Organic Market
Having met the owner of MOMs Organic Market in the very early days of the brand’s plans to grow from only their original 3 stores to their current 20+ locations, Lee Engle was able to collectively create a strategy for success with the founder and still current owner of MOMs Organic Market, Scott Nash. In these early days of growth, any misstep in the real estate selection or deal parameters may have been the end to this brand’s grand plans of being a major grocery operator in the Mid-Atlantic Market. By strategically and patiently growing the brand at a rate of only one to two stores per year, Lee Engle and Scott Nash were able to enjoy successful store opening after successful store opening due to this diligent and disciplined store rollout approach. It’s with great pride that Lee Engle continues to be the master broker and face of the MOMs Organic Market real estate program, as this unique and exciting brand continues to realize the initial dream of opening new stores within the entire Mid-Atlantic region.

**Fun Fact: Did you know that MOMs Organic Market launched in the garage of Scott Nash’s parent’s home, just like Apple Computers, Harley Davidson and so many other great iconic brands.

My Eye Dr
During the conceptual phase for the Launch of the brand new My Eye DR retail store rollout, Lee Engle and Dr. Robert Samit worked collectively on a strategy that would ultimately deliver great success for the My eye Dr. brand. After only a few short years from the brand’s initial launch into the DC and Baltimore area markets, future store locations then began to come on line with relative ease as a result of mergers and brand awareness that was built upon the real estate strategy and foundation for the very first 52 store locations that Lee Engle and Dr. Robert Samit worked on together. It was only a few years later that these wildly successful initial store locations would allow for Dr. Samit to consider and accept private equity money and ultimately exit from what became a significant brand for the entire Mid-Atlantic region.
