Professional Experience

Kim McGuire joined the Retail Services Group of CBRE in 2008 as a Senior vice President.  Over the course of his career, Kim McGuire has been responsible for hundreds of lease transactions, achieving considerable success in both tenant representation and product leasing.  Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. McGuire was a Managing Principal for Northern Realty Group.  Before that, Mr. McGuire worked within the Retail Properties Group of Rubloff Inc. as a retail leasing specialist.

Mr. McGuire’s most visible accomplishments include the original 12,000-square-foot, free-standing Banana Republic flagship store on Chicago’s North Michigan Avenue; an unconventional 36,000-square-foot Whole Foods grocery store, located in downtown Evanston and part of a mixed-use development with rooftop parking; the free-standing Shaw’s Crab House and Big Bowl restaurants at the Streets of Woodfield center in Schaumburg, IL; and famed Chef Grant Achatz’s fine-dining Alinea restaurant in Chicago.

As tenant representative, McGuire has overseen site procurement for more than 100 Starbucks Coffee stores in Metropolitan Chicago and has represented Chipotle Mexican Grill, Fox & Hound, Flat Top Grille, Cosi , Kinko’s Copies and a number of other chain and independent retailers and restaurants.  McGuire currently represents Panda Express, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Graham Elliott, Steak & Shake, Caribou Coffee and Landry’s Restaurants in the Chicago area.

Among his many successful downtown Chicago retail leasing projects are Bank of America Center, with tenants such as Ann Taylor, H2O Plus, and Starbucks Coffee; Chicago Title & Trust Center; the Renaissance Hotel; Marina City; and the North Wind Building at State and Adams Streets, which was pre-leased to CVS.  In the North Michigan Avenue/Oak Street area, McGuire has successfully completed transactions with Baccarat, PUMA, The Corner Bakery, Big Bowl, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon, Landry’s Restaurants, Mario Tricocci, and others.


Professional Affiliations/Accreditations

  • Mr. McGuire is a member of several professional organizations, including the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and has spoken before such industry groups as the Building Owners and Mangers Associations (BOMA) Chicago Chapter.
  • Additionally, McGuire was a member of the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development State Street Marketing Task Force and serves on the Evanston Long-Term Strategic Business, Financial and Land-Use Planning Group.


  • A graduate of the State University of New York, McGuire received an M.B.A. in marketing management from DePaul University in Chicago.
