John Spratley

John Spratley has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate and banking.  Since joining CBRE in 2006, Mr. Spratley has served in a variety of leadership capacities for several banking clients.

Mr. Spratley’s current assignment is as Transactions & Investments Platform Leader for a large, multi-national financial services client.  He manages a team of 15 brokerage professionals who have responsibility for retail transactions in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern US, a coverage area which includes 14 states and over 1,300 financial centers.

In other assignments, Mr. Spratley conducted a review of the Canadian and U.S. real estate portfolio for a large Canadian-based financial services client, making recommendations to improve brokerage practices tied to their retail and office portfolios. He also has served as the Alliance Director for a large regional financial institution, with oversight responsibilities for the brokerage and project management activities associated with the client’s de novo branch expansion in the Southeastern U.S.

Prior to CBRE, Mr. Spratley worked in mixed-use development for The Mills Corporation, which is now part of Simon Property Group.  As a Development Director, he managed the pre-development activities for a $250 million, retail, entertainment, and recreation focused development in downtown San Francisco, and a similarly-sized mixed-use development in Midtown Atlanta.

While at Mills, Mr. Spratley also worked with professional sports franchises to propose and plan retail and entertainment based developments adjacent to stadiums, ballparks and arenas.  He started his career as a management associate for a large, Charlotte-based financial services institution.
