Gus Mendoza is a Project Manager in the Miami market where he executes assignments for various local clients and also works with Asset Services property managers. He has over 10 years of experience in commercial project management and commercial construction. Prior to joining CBRE, Gus was a Project Coordinator with CWA Engineers, an engineering and project management firm in the mining, marine terminal and port sectors, in Miami.   • Trafigura Beheer BV. (New Orleans, LA):  Project coordinator for a 5 billion dollar intermodal barge to ship port terminal.
    –    Works included feasibility study through EPCM (Engineering Procurement Construction/Contract Management).
    –    Designed specialized equipment to unload barges and stockpile at the port terminal.
    –    Designed linear travelling ship loader to load Panamax capacity vessels (2nd largest bulk shipping vessel).
  • Agrium Inc. (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan):  Project Coordinator for an EPCM project for over 400 multi-dwelling modular workforce housing units on a remote mining facility.
    –    Key hurdles:  Procurement of equipment due to geography, weather at time could exceed 40 degrees below.
    –    Coordinated a work-around to continue the mining operation and traditional accommodations with transport services for mine personnel.
  • Americas Potash Corp. (Piura, Peru):  Project Coordinator from feasibility study through EPCM.
    –    One of kind solar evaporation mine to recover KCL (Fertilizer) and NaCl (Salt).
    –    Massive earthworks projects of more than 5,700 hectares (roughly the size of Coral Gables) which needed to be graded and leveled.
    –    A series of evaporation ponds were constructed and separated by dykes using gravity as water was moved downstream to the subsequent evaporation ponds until the final products (fertilizer and salt) were precipitated and harvested.
  • Kinder Morgan Inc. (Vancouver, Canada):  Assistant PM on an EPCM project for a rotary dumper (a massive steel and concrete structure used to unload a train car by turning the car completely upside down while not needing to separate the train car from the entire train).
    –    Through our design and construction execution, productivity was increased by 12% which translated to a 1 year payback period on the project costs.
  • Florida Department of Transportation:  Assistant PM for the renovation of all 8 service stations along Florida’s turnpike.
    –    Unique project that involved the public and private sector.
    –    Coordinated all the retail stores within each service plaza.
    –    Came in under budget and ahead of schedule
