Gil Kaplan is a Vice President within CBRE’s Debt & Structured Finance group. Mr. Kaplan focuses on both debt and equity placement, providing clients with a valuable resource in determining and funding the most efficient capital stack available to each transaction.
Prior to joining CBRE’s DSF team, Mr. Kaplan spent four years as an Associate within CBRE’s investment banking unit, CBRE Capital Advisors. During his time with CBRE Capital Advisors, Mr. Kaplan focused on foreign institutional capital placement into U.S. real estate transactions. During his tenure, Mr. Kaplan developed a strong background in acquisition underwriting, financial modeling and joint venture negotiation. Mr. Kaplan helped place equity in more than $1.25 billion of real estate transactions through direct investments, joint ventures and funds covering a variety of asset classes.
Prior to joining CBRE Capital Advisors, Mr. Kaplan was a Senior Consultant for FTI Consulting. Mr. Kaplan began his career working on large-scale construction and development disputes for FTI's Forensic Litigation Consulting Practice, later transferring to FTI’s Real Estate Solutions Group. In his role, Mr. Kaplan was responsible for M&A underwriting, portfolio valuation, acquisition due diligence, highest-and-best-use analyses and general transaction advisory.
