As the Director of Facilities to the AT&T Retail portfolio, Gary Merrow is based in Atlanta, Georgia. Gary is responsible for day-to-day operations of a portfolio consisting of 2,200 plus locations and encompasses six (6) million square feet. His team consists of 72 field technicians and 23 support staff. His strategic position directly supports the Managing Director and AT&T’s CRE Leadership. Responsibilities include oversight of $32 million repair and maintenance budget, strategic sourcing and procurement, vendor performance / compliance, computerized maintenance software system, contract billing and financial oversight, business analytics reporting, and various other financial and operational functions. Working with his team of professionals, he leads and develops strategic plans for implementation to exceed client expectations and achieve annual cost savings goals.
Gary brings over 33 years of experience to CBRE in facility management and engineering in critical environments, retail, government, university, and the private sector. His specific experiences include project management (construction and consulting), preventive maintenance program design and implementation, software design and CMMS integration into facility environments and day-to-day supervision with large facility management staffs. His most recent role prior to coming to CBRE was as the Director of Operations. In this role he had PnL and operations responsibility for Integrated Facilities Management and Services at three Universities/Colleges. He has taught for the past nine years as an Adjunct Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the Integrated Facilities Management Master’s track. Other notable positions was as the Director of Facilities Sustainment for The Home Depot Supply Chain organization, and as a Senior Vice President for Paramount Pictures. Gary has ran his own consulting firm, GM4-OptiSuM, that had a dual focus on Facility and Training / Leadership-consulting. He has developed customized programs and training solutions in Sustainable FM, LEED, Business Continuity and Disaster Response and Reliability Centered Maintenance programs.
Gary retired after 22 years as a highly decorated Chief Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force. He has a MBA from Kennesaw University, a B.S. in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University and numerous Associate degrees in facility operations and maintenance fields.
