Edward P. Zimmer is a Consultant at CBRE working with the Occupier Restructuring and Disposition Services Group. For more than 30 years, Mr. Zimmer has been a trusted advisor to his clients, overseeing various aspects of retail real estate and bankruptcy matters on their behalf. Throughout his career, Mr. Zimmer has been responsible for tens of millions of square feet, saved millions of dollars in lease negotiations, and devised creative solutions to achieve better portfolio performances.
Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Zimmer worked at DJM Real Estate, a Gordon Brothers Group Company, as General Counsel and a Managing Director. During his tenure with the company, Mr. Zimmer worked closely with clients such as American Apparel, Kmart, and Blockbuster to provide advice on leasing and disposition matters in the bankruptcy process, including guidance in the formulation of disposition structures, timing and strategies, and the negotiation of lease modifications, assumptions, assignment agreements and property sales.
Previously, Mr. Zimmer was with Levitz Furniture Corporation, serving in the capacity as General Counsel and Secretary of the company, as well as Vice President of Real Estate. He managed Levitz’s real estate portfolio of more than 10 million square feet, with responsibilities in leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, landlord negotiations and overall property management. During the company’s stay in bankruptcy, Mr. Zimmer directed the disposition and refinancing of leased and owned properties in addition to coordinating bankruptcy auctions, acting as the company’s designated representative at Court hearings and working closely with bankruptcy professionals from both the company and its creditors.
