Bethesda, Md. – February 19, 2020 –CBRE has hired Executive Vice President Joshua Hausfeld as a debt and structured finance professional within the company’s national Senior Housing practice. Mr. Hausfeld will be based in CBRE’s Bethesda, Maryland office, specializing in agency loans for healthcare and senior housing properties, including independent living, assisted living, Alzheimer’s care and skilled nursing facilities.
Mr. Hausfeld will lead CBRE’s HUD 232 origination efforts nationally, and partner with CBRE National Senior Housing professionals Aron Will, Austin Sacco and Lisa Widmier. These key principals possess a combined 70 years of experience in the senior housing industry. Since 2014, the team has closed $14.5 billion in transaction volume and has been the market leader across Investment Sales, Investment Banking and Debt & Structured Finance.
CBRE is one of the few senior housing investment advisors whose platform includes: Fannie Mae (DUS certified lender), Freddie Mac (seller/servicer) and HUD/FHA, along with all the traditional lending sources. In addition to permanent debt placement and construction financing, the team raises equity for development and acquisitions on a project specific and programmatic basis. CBRE’s senior housing platform includes fully integrated sales and debt executions for private to institutional owners. CBRE was Fannie Mae’s #1 senior housing originator in 2019 and has been a top three senior housing debt originator since 2010.

Prior to joining CBRE, Mr. Hausfeld was a managing director at SunTrust Commercial Real Estate (formerly Pillar Capital Finance), leading the senior housing and healthcare finance group. Prior to SunTrust Commercial Real Estate, Joshua was a senior director at a dedicated HUD/FHA company where he originated and underwrote healthcare and multifamily properties under all of HUD’s lending programs. He also worked in an underwriting capacity for Merrill Lynch Capital’s healthcare finance division underwriting senior housing transactions across all care levels.
Mr. Hausfeld has more than 15 years of commercial real estate experience and maintains both LEAN 232 and MAP Multifamily Underwriter certifications. Joshua holds an M.B.A. and an M.S. in health finance from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a B.S. in economics and business administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
