Chris Pennington is an Energy Manager within CBRE’s Global Corporate Services platform. He is currently the Manager of Energy and Sustainability programs for the Iron Mountain account. Chris most recently held the role of Vice President, Operations at Iron Mountain covering their Western Area before transitioning to CBRE in early 2013. This prior experience working at the client site began over 22 years prior and enabled Chris to hold many leadership roles at various levels of that organization.
Mr. Pennington’s extensive career at Iron Mountain was focused on Operations leadership, planning and strategy. Beginning as an hourly employee when the company was a fraction of its current size, Chris developed practical, hands on leadership skills through real world experiences. He progressed through the roles of Supervisor and Manger to become General Manager of the Portland, OR market in 1998. Over the next seven years he built strong ties with Sales and developed customer relationships leading to a ten times growth in revenue.
In 2005 Chris was promoted to Business Manager of the Western Area, a role that evolved to Vice President by 2012. During this phase Chris led and developed a small and elite team that supported daily operational excellence and monthly financial forecast and review over a geography covering the 10 most western states. Annual planning of strategic initiatives and developing paths to execute successfully became a hallmark of the later years spent in this role.
Chris lives in Seattle with his wife Kathy. Both are natives of the Pacific Northwest and spend their free time enjoying outdoor activities between Seattle and Portland.
