Unlocked Coffee Roasters to Open First Shop in the West Village of Greenville

After breaking ground in March 2019, the 60,000 sq.-ft. mixed-use development Poe West in The West Village of Greenville welcomes a new tenant to its growing lineup of creative and crafty retailers. CBRE has arranged a lease for Unlocked Coffee Roasters, a local startup that plans to open its first shop and café at the property in late summer 2019.

Unlocked Coffee Roasters is owned by Andres Camargo and Rocio Salazar, a married couple with Columbian heritage and a social impact mission. The shop and roastery will empower local women in shelters and support Colombian farmers while providing the highest quality of coffee.

“We are excited for our dreams to come true in such a welcoming and vibrant city, Greenville. Unlocked Coffee Roasters is a coffee shop and roastery with a focus on building strong relationships with farmers, employees, customers, and the community. Our vision is finally coming to life and we couldn’t be happier,” said Carlos Camargo, co-owner of Unlocked Coffee Roasters.

CBRE’s Blaine Hart and Tommy Molin are spearheading leasing efforts at Poe West and represented the landlord and developer, The Furman Co., in the lease transaction.

“What a cool story this is for the project and The West Village. Unlocked Coffee Roasters is going to be a true amenity and destination for Poe West. Not only are the products excellent, the business plan is exceptional and the founders love what they do,” says the leasing team at CBRE.

“It has been great getting to know Carlos and Roci. They are both very passionate about what they are doing, and it’s reflected in the quality of their coffee,” said Robert Poppleton, Development Manager at The Furman Co. “The addition of Unlocked Coffee Roasters further expands Poe West’s culinary palate and helps round out the 18-hour experience while keeping everyone sufficiently caffeinated. You must try their single-origin Aponte Cherry roast, delicious!”

The Poe West development is anchored by Greenville Technical College Center for Culinary and Hospitality Innovation (CHI). Carolina Bauernhaus, LaRue Fine Chocolate, and Six & Twenty Distillery announced their occupancy earlier this year. Poe West is designed to be a creative community of business and energetic thinkers matched with food and spirits. It is planting the seeds of community while growing opportunities from the roots of thousands of stories and a rich history.
