Century City, California – November 17, 2016– Century Plaza Towers announced today that it has achieved LEED® - Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (LEED-EB O&M) Gold Recertification established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). LEED or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
Located at 2029/2049 Century Park East, Century Plaza Towers comprises 2.4 million square feet in two 44-story towers and anchors the trophy office destination Century Park in Century City, CA. Century Plaza Towers is managed and leased by CBRE Group, Inc. and owned by institutional investors advised by J. P. Morgan Asset Management. Through the implementation of many key strategic green initiatives, Century Plaza Towers’ ownership and management achievements included:
• The building’s ENERGY STAR score was documented at 90, which places it in the top 8% of all comparable office buildings nationwide.
• Reduced potable water consumption for indoor plumbing fixtures by 38.01% compared to conventional buildings.
• Documented that 98.76% of janitorial cleaning products meet sustainable criteria.
• Documented 28.90% reduction in conventional commuting trips.
• Exemplary performance for low-mercury lamps, indoor water efficiency and heat island reduction.

CBRE’s Global Energy and Sustainability Group, which provides sustainable consulting services to assist individual buildings and portfolios navigate the LEED-EB recertification process, managed the 9-month project for Century Plaza Towers. CBRE’s Sustainability Group was instrumental in completing the successful recertification effort by providing expertise to insure policies, procedures, narratives and all required documentation met LEED standards.
LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system. Developed by USGBC, LEED provides third-party verification that a building uses strategies aimed at improving performance across a number of metrics, including energy/water efficiency, indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources and works throughout the building lifecycle – design and construction, operations and maintenance, tenant build-out and significant retrofit.
