Salt Lake City, UT–October 12, 2016 – The Salt Lake office of CBRE has kicked off its fourth annual Green Week event one full week focused on improving environmental behaviors, resource efficiencies and community giving. As part of the event, the Salt Lake office will participate in one sustainability initiative each day, in addition to promoting several ongoing efforts to be more “green” throughout the year. This year’s Green Week will culminate with a group of local employees donating over 100 hours of volunteer work to assist Habitat for Humanity.
“Green Week is a coordinated effort to strengthen our organization’s culture, as well as demonstrate our comitment to business efficiency, sustainable behaviors and practices, and the local community,” noted Mark Bouchard, senior managing director of the Salt Lake City office.
A global initiative, CBRE’s Green Week is commemorated by 105 offices throughout the world with approximately 14,000 employees working together to make an impact in their local communities. In 2015, CBRE employees participated in more than 320 initiatives. This year, the Salt Lake office will support a local blood drive, learn what it takes to achieve LEED Gold certification and how it impacts the environment, and focus on ways to reduce carbon footprints, in addition to other activities. The most significant event will take place on Friday when a group of employees will donate nearly 100 hours of their time to assist Habitat for Humanity in constructing a home for a local family.
“CBRE puts a consistent emphasis on the greening of commercial real estate, which has led to the organization becoming the global leader in USGBC® LEED® EB certifications, a nine-time ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year and a leading corporate friend of WWF’s Annual Earth Hour event,” Bouchard further added. “Our Green Week initiative is one way we show our clients and employees that we not only feel passionately about this subject, but that we understand the importance of taking action as well—both as an organization, as well as on an individual basis.”
