CBRE announced today that finance industry veterans Charlie Knudsen, CFA and Julie Cook, CFA have joined CBRE Capital Advisors, the firm’s investment banking division, to scale up its private placement bond finance business for Credit Tenant Lease (CTL) financings and other types of asset-backed and leased-backed private placement securities.
Mr. Knudsen, who is a founding principal of QuadCapital headquartered in Madison, WI, and Ms. Cook will continue to source transactions from their network of mortgage bankers, brokers and borrowers throughout the country in addition to those originated through CBRE’s global platform. Mr. Knudsen and Ms. Cook will continue to be based in Madison and their securities licenses will be held with CBRE Capital Advisors.
“This move represents the melding of decades’ worth of specialized expertise in private placement securities with the vast reach of the largest real estate services company in the world. It is a tremendous opportunity for all parties involved and will allow us to leverage our collective skills, resources and attributes,” said Mr. Knudsen, who joins CBRE Capital Advisors as a Managing Director.
Ms. Cook, who will serve as a Senior Associate with CBRE Capital Advisors, has more than 25 years of institutional fixed income securities, structured finance and commercial whole loan investing experience, most recently with QuadCapital which she joined in 2010.
“These additions will be a tremendous complement to our existing team and play a key role in our efforts to further capture market share in the private placement bond and CTL finance market,” said Brian Stoffers, Global President of Debt & Structured Finance (DSF) for CBRE. “Our teams have worked with Charlie for more than 20 years as an active lender having closed many deals with his firm throughout the years.”
Mr. Knudsen will have dual reports to Mr. Stoffers and James Scott, Executive Managing Director for CBRE Capital Advisors. He will partner with Brad Wilmot, an Executive Vice President of DSF in CBRE’s Los Angeles office, to help grow the practice throughout the CBRE platform.
