This will be the first of eight Krispy Kreme stores the donut franchise plans to open in the Cook County area. Currently, the Chicago area has only one Krispy Kreme in Elk Grove Village, Ill. This new location will be its first retail location in the Chicago area in seven years. Krispy Kreme will build a ground-up store on the existing outparcel.
The Homewood location in Chicago’s south suburbs offers high visibility with excellent traffic at 26,300 vehicles per day on Halstead. The outparcel shares a parking lot with Home Depot and Jewel-Osco, accounting for a steady stream of daily shoppers. Other surrounding retailers include Target and Office Max.
“This is a high-traffic area that will serve as an excellent location for Krispy Kreme’s re-entry into the Chicago market,” said CBRE’s Foret. “The surrounding demographics are very strong and the concentration of other national retailers will help establish this new site quickly.”
