Stephen Downey is a Vice President with the Debt and Structured Finance Group of CBRE’s Capital Markets division. Mr. Downey is an accomplished capital markets professional with extensive knowledge of the commercial real estate lending market, specializing in providing owners and investors with capital for the acquisition or recapitalization of industrial, office, retail and multifamily assets through a variety of variety of financial products, including Conventional Debt, Agency, CMBS, SBA and Bridge financing.
Mr. Downey has been active in industry and professional organizations, including International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Realtors Commercial Alliance, Palm Beach Business Development Board, University of Florida Center for Real Estate Studies/Bergstrom Council and has served as an instructor for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. He has also been active in the community and has served in various capacities for charitable and civic organizations, including Knights of Columbus, Palm Beach County Budget Oversight Task Force and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Mr. Downey joined CBRE from Wells Fargo Bank. Previously, he was Vice President at General Electric Capital Corporation, where he consistently established himself as one of the company’s top producers, closing transactions approaching $1 Billion in financing and received numerous GE Capital production awards, including multiple Pinnacle and Summit Awards. During his 27 year tenure at GE, he originated commercial real estate loans secured by industrial, office and retail assets located in southeastern U.S. markets, which included non-recourse lending to investors, as well as recourse lending to owner-users in a wide range of industries.
