Neill Kelly leads CBRE’s Occupier Restructuring and Disposition platform in North America, helping clients to assess, value, reorganize and ultimately reduce the overall cost of their real estate portfolios, among other services. A Senior Vice President, he is based in CBRE’s Melville, N.Y., office.
Neill’s team advises occupiers who increasingly want to optimize their store portfolios to achieve their ideal mix of brick-and-mortar stores and e-commerce operations. They also have extensive experience working within bankruptcy cases and with other asset classes such as office and industrial.
Clients who use disposition and restructuring services often include retailers, as well as private-equity sponsors that require pre-acquisition portfolio analysis or post-acquisition transaction services; and investment banks or law firms with clients going through restructuring or liquidation.
Neill and his team guide clients through their transitions with the assistance of any of several disciplines within the CBRE platform, including Advisory & Transaction Services, Valuation, Capital Markets, Facilities Management and Location Analytics, among others.
Neill, a 23-year veteran of retail real estate and restructuring, joined CBRE in late 2016 as Senior Vice President to build and lead its new Occupier Restructuring and Disposition platform.
Prior to joining CBRE, Neill was President of DJM Real Estate, a Gordon Brothers Group Company, one of the leading U.S. providers of real estate valuation, disposition, mitigation and restructuring services to retailers both in and outside of bankruptcy. Several of Neill’s teammates from prior work have joined him at CBRE.
During his tenure at DJM, Neill and his team successfully completed the disposition or mitigation of millions of square feet of retail and nonretail space for clients domestically and internationally. Neill has completed hundreds of new-store site selection and dispositions alike. He also has extensive experience in the valuation and acquisition of retail assets throughout the U.S.
