Professional Experience

Michael Simpson joined CBRE in 2008 as a Researcher. After two years in the research department Michael moved to the Valuation & Advisory Group. Michael was promoted to Appraiser in 2013 when he received his General Certified Appraiser License and to Senior Appraiser in 2015. Michael has extensive experience in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe commercial real estate markets and has a comprehensive understanding of market trends and analysis. Michael has worked on a wide variety of valuation projects throughout New Mexico for a broad spectrum of property types including: industrial facilities, medical office buildings, retail shopping centers, multi-housing properties, mobile home parks, vacant land, auto dealerships, single tenant net leased investments, restaurants, microbreweries, mixed-use properties, and specialty property types such as: RV Parks/campgrounds, self-storage, car washes, food processing facilities, and historic buildings. Assignments have included market value appraisals, market rent studies, and highest and best use analysis.

Michael’s background in CBRE Research and Appraisal allows him to provide his clients with the most in-depth, up-to-date information on how market conditions will affect the value of their property. He is an expert at leveraging the full portfolio of CBRE resources to ensure that his clients have all the information needed to make an informed decision. 

He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a major in Entrepreneurship and a minor in Finance, from Washington State University. His professional education consists of classes from the Appraisal Institute including: Advanced Income Capitalization, Advanced Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use, Introduction to Green Buildings: Principles and Concepts, and Evaluating Commercial Construction. Michael is a Candidate for Designation in the Appraisal Institute and is working towards the MAI designation.  

Michael also serves part time in the New Mexico Army National Guard. In 2011 he was named non-commissioned officer of the year for the New Mexico Army National Guard. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2012 and promoted to First Lieutenant in 2014. He currently serves as Executive Officer of an infantry company.
