Michael joined CBRE|Hubbell Commercial to pursue his long-time desire to bring his unique background, experience and perspective, much of it gained leading the real estate and environmental departments at several large firms, to client’s who want and need that help.
Michael’s experience includes over 25 years of real estate and environmental management, with extensive experience in the industrial, retail, and office sectors. This includes working in a variety of industries, including: manufacturing, mining, pulp and paper, transportation and distribution, banking, and retail. Michael’s real estate experience spans site selection, acquisition, development and construction, and all forms of transactions including property leasing, purchases, sales, and 1031 exchanges and business acquisitions and divestitures.
Included in Michael’s experience are over fourteen years leading the real estate, construction, and environmental department of a national transportation, logistics, and property management company, and eleven years with a vertically-integrated grocery retailer (Hy-Vee, Inc.) based in West Des Moines, Iowa. Michael’s responsibilities at Hy-Vee included: initiating and leading Hy-Vee’s sustainability efforts; acquiring sites for grocery, drug, and convenience stores as wells as distribution and office facilities; developing, managing, and overseeing the sales and leasing of the company’s real estate portfolio; and helping to establish a national network of locations for Hy-Vee’s specialty pharmacy subsidiary (the Omaha-based Amber Pharmacy).
Michael’s history of serving as an owner’s representative has prepared him well to assist clients with diverse backgrounds and needs, and to do so by being committed to understanding what those needs are and how they can best be met.
