Since joining CBRE as a Senior Vice President in 2011, Lon Rubackin has successfully completed leasing assignments for retailers and landlords from Times Square and Soho to Harlem and New Jersey. Lon’s most recent accomplishments include the leasing of 120,000 square feet in Brooklyn by Bed Bath & Beyond. Not only was it the largest deal in the company’s history but it was the largest deal done in Brooklyn in 2014. Lon also represented General Growth Properties and successfully brought Pirch, the high-end bath and kitchen company, to Soho for its 31,000-square-foot flagship store.
Prior to joining CBRE, Lon was Managing Partner and founder of the GFI Retail Group and spearheaded all facets of the day-to-day operations of the division. Lon also ran the GFI Realty Group and oversaw 18 brokers who had averaged $800 million per annum in sales over the previous five years of operations.
Previously, Lon was Senior Vice President of Forest City Ratner for nearly 11 years. Among his many accomplishments was the acquisition and leasing of one of the largest and most unique properties in the entire New York metro area, Ridge Hill in Westchester New York, a $1billion, mixed-use project. In addition, he oversaw leasing of Forest City’s 4-million-square-foot portfolio, which included the 42nd Street project, and successfully completed deals with Dave & Buster’s, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, and Modell’s Sporting Goods, among others. Lon also served as Vice President of Retail Development for The Related Companies and worked for nearly 13 years on the retail side for Barnes & Noble as well as the regional electronics retailer, Nobody Beats the Wiz.
Lon Rubackin has leased millions of square feet of retail space both as a retailer with owner/developers such as Westfield, General Growth and The Pyramid Companies; and also on the owner’s side, negotiating with tenants such as Home Depot, Lowe’s Home Center, Whole Foods, LL Bean, Apple and Sephora.
