John Cherry is a Managing Director of CBRE’s Valuation and Advisory Services Team. He is an accomplished professional with more than 30 years of extensive experience in real estate valuation and investment analysis including a diversified background in the valuation of real estate for a wide range of applications.
Mr. Cherry’s expertise includes performing market value appraisals on multiple property types including core assets, land and subdivisions, and special purpose properties. He is also experienced in appraisal reviews, appraisal support for arbitration, market analysis, and market rent studies. These valuation and consulting activities have been conducted on behalf of major financial institutions, community banks, pension funds, government agencies, major corporations, individual investors, and legal and accounting firms.
Previously, Mr. Cherry was Managing Director at Butler Burgher Group for the Atlanta branch office. In addition, he formerly served as the Chief Appraiser for LandAmerica Valuation Corporation and was a Director and Southeast Region Practic Leader for the Real Estate Advisory Services group at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Mr. Cherry is licensed as a Certified General Appraiser in five states and is a designated member (MAI) of the Appraisal Institute, a global membership association of professional real estate appraisers. He also holds the CRE designation, a credential that is awarded only to those individuals who are invited by their peers into the membership of The Counselors of Real Estate. Mr. Cherry is past president of the Georgia Chapter of each of these organizations.
