Professional Experience

Joan is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Columbus office, including coordination of the capital and operating budget, the office strategic plan, monitoring of expenses, development of expense controls, Human Resources, listings, revenue transactions and the physical facility. She also directly manages a staff of nine and matrix-manages a staff of four. Her primary focus is ensuring the seamless, profitable daily operations of the office’s sales and administrative professionals.

Joan assumed the responsibilities for all technical support from 1999 to 2009. During those ten years, she was involved with network administration, user support for telephones and computers, as well as several IT projects including: Y2K, Netware to Windows environment conversion, Outlook, Windows and MS Office Suite upgrades, as well as hardware upgrades and fixes. Joan has lead or participated in several company initiatives including co-creation of a training manual for the Office Operations Manager (OOM) position, the OOM Mentor Program, portal enhancements and system efficiencies, as well as writing a Case Study on Diversity. She was a key team member of a corporate committee that lead the conversion and process change to MTA, a new transaction revenue system. Joan has participated in many other company initiatives including three office moves, of which the third will involve a total environment change to the CBRE-360 office layout.

Joan has been an integral part of managing the operation and integration of two commercial realty acquisitions.  The first acquisition in 1998 grew the Columbus office from 35 to 300 personnel.  The second acquisition in 2005 acquired 45 employees.  Joan assisted with all aspects of the move and integration of the personnel.  She was also responsible for the IT and office operations function of both acquisitions.

In addition to her CBRE experience, Joan completed her technical degree at Columbus State Community College, was awarded the PHR (Professional in Human Resources) designation from the Society of Human Resources in 1999 and has been a licensed realtor since 1988.
