In the fall of 2002, James joined CBRE’s Brokerage Services division in midtown Manhattan as a leasing associate specializing in both tenant and agency representation. Since joining this division James has consummated over 6,500,000 square feet of leasing transactions.
A new business development specialist, James represents both tenants and landlords with their local, national and international requirements. In recent years, James represented IBM with their acquisitions at 590 Madison Avenue (121,055 RSF), 51 Astor Place (118,435 RSF) and 88 University Place (81,834 RSF), Samsung at 837 Washington Street (55,497 RSF) and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett at 425 Lexington Avenue (595,799 RSF). He was recently nominated by the Real Estate Board of New York (“REBNY”) for The Most Ingenious Deal of the Year for his representation of Columbia Property Trust, as they consummated a 389,522 RSF disposition to NYU in April 2016.
Prior to joining CBRE’s New York office, Mr. Ackerson worked for Disney (Chicago, New York, San Diego) in advertising sales and television production. Prior to that, he worked for CBRE’s La Jolla and Carlsbad offices, while attending the University of San Diego. To date James has held the following positions for CBRE: non-paid Intern, paid Intern, in-house Photographer, Administrative Assistant, Market Research Specialist and Salesperson. James currently resides in the Flatiron District with his wife, Miryam, and his three children (Tommy, Hana and Willie-James).
