Doug Romer has over 25 years of environmental consulting experience, including 13 years as environmental manager and then director in the commercial real estate division of an international Wall Street investment firm, where he was responsible for qualifying, quantifying, and mitigating environmental risk on the firm’s multi-billion dollar global real estate investment portfolios.
Mr. Romer has extensive field and project management experience in Phase I and II environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater investigations for a variety of contaminant sources, underground storage tank removals, risk-based assessments and corrective actions, asbestos surveys and abatement, indoor air quality assessments and mold remediation. Clients have included local and national banks, agency lenders, real estate investors, life companies, law firms and property management companies. Asset types have included multifamily residential, retail, high-rise office, low-rise office, industrial, hospitality, student housing, assisted living, parking garages and self-storage facilities. His international work includes Canada, Germany, Italy, France, the U.K. and Japan.
Mr. Romer has developed environmental policies and procedures for acquiring and managing commercial real estate, and has prepared awareness training manuals, client-specific scopes of work and environmental tracking tools to reduce or avoid financial risk and legal liabilities. Throughout his career he has held the following licenses or certifications as required by his responsibilities: Asbestos Inspector and Management Planner, Corrective Action Project Manager, Underground Storage Tank Remover and Indoor Air Quality Manager.
