OKLAHOMA CITY – Oct. 28, 2019 – CBRE announces that Spiers New Technologies, a full-service provider for advanced battery packs, has purchased a 157,000 square foot facility in Oklahoma City. The building is located at 1500 SE 89th St and is easily accessible from I-35 and I-240.
Spiers currently occupies four different buildings across Oklahoma City and will consolidate their operations to the new facility. The building sits on 18 acres of land, giving them the opportunity to build out over 200,000 square feet of additional office and manufacturing space.
Spiers is the leading full-service provider of the “4R” services – repair, remanufacturing, refurbishing and repurposing – for advanced battery packs used in electric and hybrid vehicles. Based in Oklahoma City, they have expanded their operations to Europe with a location in the Netherlands.
Spiers has become a dominant presence in the electric and hybrid vehicle industry with numerous vehicle brands, like Ford and GM, choosing Spiers to handle the “4R” services required for the electric car batteries when they begin performing at suboptimal levels. The company has also began producing energy storage systems used for vehicle charging stations and has developed processes for recycling and logistics management.
“We are thrilled with the location we were able to find for Spiers” said Jason Hammock, Vice President, CBRE. “Their decision to stay in Oklahoma City in the demonstrates their commitment to the city, and it really speaks to the area’s burgeoning tech market. It’s a huge step forward as the city continues to diversify away from oil and gas.”
Spiers began moving into the facility in October and are currently operational and accepting shipments.
“Over the years we’ve built a close working relationship with Jason [Hammock] and his team and they truly understood what we needed for our newest facility,” said Dirk Spiers, CEO of Spiers New Technologies. “It was difficult to find suitable space in Oklahoma City, but we are confident that we found something which will allows Spiers to grow in the next few years.”
Mr. Hammock, Caitlin Mazaheri and John Lenochan represented Spiers in site selection and lease negotiations. Allan Meadors of Cushman Wakefield represented the seller.
