Chris Kehrli is a Senior Vice President and partner with CBRE’s Global Corporate Services group in New York City, where he is responsible for overall transaction management strategy and execution. Mr. Kehrli focuses on helping clients find solutions for complex, high-risk capital transactions that are often uncertain—and that present the challenge of articulating issues in support of real estate decision-making to non-real estate executives, such as a CFO.
Mr. Kehrli has 20 years of experience in commercial real estate, transaction management and real estate private equity investment. He applies a principal’s perspective to the strategy development and field execution of his clients’ real estate transactions. His disciplined approach to underwriting market conditions, positioning assets, handling distressed ownership vulnerability, developing expected scenarios, structuring transactions, and analyzing after-tax cash/GAAP impacts and risk-adjusted returns helps his clients in the U.S. and Latin America achieve their corporate objectives. To date, Mr. Kehrli has successfully completed more than $400 million of capital asset dispositions, resulting in more than $60 million in run rate P&L savings.
Prior to rejoining CBRE in 2009, Mr. Kehrli spent two years with Tishman Speyer’s Emerging Markets group. Accountable to the company’s investment committee and its global investors, Mr. Kehrli worked with local development teams to formulate and execute portfolio strategy for 14 development projects totaling 61.5 million square feet and $7.1 billion total cost in Brazil, India and China.
Before that, Mr. Kehrli spent six years with Citigroup Property Investors, acquiring, asset managing and disposing of a $2.6 billion portfolio of private equity investments in the U.S., Europe and Mexico. He dedicated a large portion of his tenure with Citigroup to developing business plans to reposition and sell a legacy portfolio of 14 distressed office, hotel and multi-family properties and partnership interests. Mr. Kehrli was also responsible for underwriting new investments, exercising decision rights and negotiating the sale of $1.5 billion in assets for Tishman Speyer, Citigroup’s co-general partner.
Prior to Citigroup, Mr. Kehrli spent seven years with CBRE’s Global Corporate Services group in New York. During that time, he underwrote and/or executed 120 office and industrial lease transactions in 75 markets totaling two million square feet. This included a 500,000-square-foot leased build-to-suit of NEC America’s new corporate headquarters.
